Who the agreement is between
These terms apply between Hamilton Carpet Installers and the person or business that books carpet fitting work with us. They sit alongside the written agreement for your job; where the two differ, the written agreement for the job wins.
Quotes, estimates and the final price
A price becomes firm once we have measured on site. Ontario requires a written agreement for home renovation work worth more than $50, and the same rules stop a renovation business charging more than 10% above the estimate it gave unless the customer asks for additional or different work in writing. We work inside both.
Cancelling a job
Where you sign a renovation contract in your own home in Ontario, you have a ten-day cooling-off period and may cancel for any reason with no cancellation fee. After that window, tell us as early as you can: carpet cut from a roll for your rooms cannot be returned.
Deposits and payment
Ontario recommends a deposit of no more than 10% of the total, and that is what we ask for. The balance is due on completion unless the written agreement sets out a different schedule. All figures we quote are before HST, which is 13% in Ontario and applies to the carpet and to the fitting labour.
Access, timing and the site
We need access to the rooms at the agreed time, power on site, and somewhere to bring the roll in. Hamilton's noise by-law makes 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. the exempt period for construction work, and condominium corporations often narrow that to weekday business hours, so booking has to fit whichever applies to your building.
Preparation, furniture and the old floor
Furniture moving, old carpet removal, disposal, subfloor repairs and moisture barriers are priced as their own lines, not assumed. If lifting the old floor reveals damage underneath, we stop, show you what we have found and price the remedy before continuing.
Materials you provide
We are happy to fit carpet you have bought elsewhere. In that case you are responsible for the quantity ordered, the dye lot and any fault in the roll itself, and the manufacturer's own conditions on stretching and underpad still govern its warranty.
Complaints and governing law
Tell us about a problem while the job is fresh and we will come back and look at it. These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and Canada, and nothing here removes a right that Ontario consumer protection legislation gives you.
